CTET is organized by CENTRAL BOARD OF SECONDARY EDUCATION for candidates aspiring to join government schools like NVS/KVS/TIBETAN schools. It is ALL INDIA conducted exam and is also used(scores) by states who do not conduct TEACHER ELIGIBILITY TEST on their own.

I cleared CTET(PAPER 2) of JULY 2013.My subject option was SOCIAL STUDIES.

There are TWO options of papers in this test.PAPER 1 is meant for CLASS 1 TO 5 and PAPER 2 is meant for CLASS 6 TO 8. Time duration of this test is 2:30hrs.

Maximum marks for paper 2 are 150 and the candidates need 60% to qualify. PAPER2 is divided into 4 SUBJECTS.

1. CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND PEDAGOGY - To study this part,it is better if you go through B.ed books or otherwise you can take help of competitive books.

2.SOCIAL SCIENCE - This part is optional between Math and Science/Social Science, you have to choose one. For Social studies, you should buy NCERT books of social studies from class 6 to 8 and thorough reading of books will help you to score good marks. You can study competitive books further if time permits.

3.LANGUAGE 1 - Hindi was my 1st language. To study this subject Hindi books from class 6 TO 8 and competitive books can help.

4.LANGUAGE 2 - English was my 2nd language.Same way, books of class 6 to 8 and competitive books study you need to do.

Language paper will have questions on grammar and theoretical knowledge of syllabus given by CTET. To score good marks, you should go through entire syllabus and touch all the topics at least once since they can ask questions from anywhere in the syllabus provided.

UGC NET/JRF Exam Experience

NET/JRF,the most awaited test by all those who seek for good positions in reputed colleges/universities.

I cleared NET in EDUCATION in DECEMBER 2013.When i decided to take this test, few questions that came into my mind were:
  • What type of books shall i read?
  • How much time  shall i devote for my studies?
  • What aspects shall i consider before choosing coaching institute?

I think these are very common questions that we all come across. Here i would like to share my experience with the objective to help all those who wants to take this test.

  • First and formost- “HARDWORK IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS.”
  • To study only COMPETITIVE BOOKS is not enough. We have to go through all the study material of our B.ED,M.ED classes.
  • Best way to give proper time to study is to make a TIME TABLE.In this way, subject and time dividation can be done and equal time we can devote to all subjects.
  • Coaching institutions are like guide for us.From there,we can get study material and proper guidance. But ultimate success is our HARDWORK.
  • Try to solve previous year question papers and  give unit, subject wise test help us a lot. These are the best ways to know our weakest points and we can devote more time to that topic in which we are weak.

Career Counseling

Career Counseling or Career Guidance is one major advantage or facility that students can avail and can play major role in shaping up their career.

After 10th, one will be faced with questions on which stream to choose. Typically in small cities we go by marks to decide if students can do medical/non-medical and get them admitted accordingly. I feel students should be given a chance and we should ask -

  • If they want to pursue engineering degree by appearing for IIT JEE or they want to target something else.
  • If they have interest in pursuing career in accounting or finance by choosing commerce or they want to appear CA exams.

After knowing the interest that student has,  we should select the option based on the potential that student has demonstrated in studies so far. Now a days each and every career option is equally rewarding depending upon the capability that one can demonstrate.

While going for graduation or post graduation / to go for CAT or not, same questions will again repeat and having somebody to discuss and analyze the situation and advise can work as boon for small city students and help them realize their dreams.
